For those who may have stumbled upon this page inadvertently, looking perhaps for mention of ancient tombs and buried treasure, my apologies. This site is not dedicated to such subjects, though they may accidentally come up. If, instead, you are interested in the ramblings of a sailor-turned-archaeologist with a penchant for long, convoluted tales of past daring-do and present-day goings-on, why then, you are in the perfect place.

What’s Here:

I have several outlets for my storytelling tendencies. You will see links here to a blog, photos, videos, and even my own podcast. The blog is sporadic (at best), but can be good for a chuckle if I’m in a writing mood. The podcast in fairly new, but somewhat more regular, usually being recorded on a weekly basis unless something (like moving halfway across the world) interferes. The Status Report will give you a good idea of where I am and what I’m doing at any particular time. I’ll also list there some of my side interests, like what I’m reading or listening to at the moment.

About Me:

This is a very long story, and is best left to be pieced together over time and acquaintance. The nutshell version is this: I was born in England and grew up mostly overseas in the Air Force. I originally went

to college at a maritime academy to go into the Merchant Marine, but did not finish my degree. Having left school, I went on to a career as a professional sailor aboard historic sailing ships, both schooners and square-riggers, which resulted in a Master’s license and an avid interest in studying historic ships. This prompted me to go back to school and finish a degree, this time in Anthropology/Archaeology. I have now moved from the US to England to work on a Master’s degree in Maritime Archaeology, and I’m hoping to move on to a PhD as well.
